Workshop - Next Generation Sequencing

Mon. 23 Apr, 2012 9:30 - 17:00
Workshop on Next Generation Sequencing

An increasing number of reserach groups in Umeå are applying, or consider applying, next-generation sequencing, however the enormous amount of sequence information generated by these techniques puts increased demand on data management, from storage to analysis. Many groups find that the required computational skills are not available in the group or among collaborators, and we identified a need to aggregate such specific know-how. Therefore we have formed a genomics core under the CLiC (Computational Life Science Cluster) umbrella that focus on data analysis pipelines to produce genome assemblies, databases and preprocessing of next generation sequencing data. The genomics core will bridge the gap between the initial pre-processing steps and further downstream analysis such as comparative genomics and phylogenomic analysis.
The genomics core now announces its official opening on April 23rd, and in connection with that we invite you all to a small workshop on next generation sequencing. We have invited active researchers in the field for presentations of research in the area, and in the afternoon there will be a poster session where researchers can discuss NGS related topics with the invited speakers.

Place: KB3B1, Stora hörsalen, KBC
Time: 9.30-16.00

Programme:
9.30-12.00, KB3B1 (Stora hörsalen)
