Kurt was a postdoctoral fellow in Hans Wolf-Watz group at molecular biology in the years following his dissertation 1994. His current research is directed towards identifying and characterizing host factors that play a role in the infection cycle of intracellular microbial pathogens. Most recently the focus has been on the infection-specific activities of the host factors heme regulated inhibitor (HRI) and perforin-2 (P2). Additionally he also co-directs a malaria drug-testing program.
