 ostdoctoral fellow in Hans Wolf-Watz group at molecular biology in the yea
 rs following his dissertation 1994. His current research is directed towar
 ds identifying and characterizing host factors that play a role in the inf
 ection cycle of intracellular microbial pathogens. Most recently the focus
  has been on the infection-specific activities of the host factors heme re
 gulated inhibitor (HRI) and perforin-2 (P2). Additionally he also co-direc
 ts a malaria drug-testing program.</p>
