Advanced Writing Course Description
This course is designed f or students who have already taken an Accent writing course and who have a complete (or nearly complete) article that they plan to submit for public ation or to use as part of a thesis (kappa). Building on the principles an d strategies discussed in the first course\, we will revise several paragr aphs (maybe even pages if time allows) from each student‚s text. In additi on to using some of the concepts discussed in the first course\, we will d iscuss and practice more subtle strategies that deal with organization\, s entence clarity\, sentence transitions\, paragraph cohesion\, and paragrap h transitions in light of your audience‚s needs and expectations. As this course is more hands-on than the first course\, we will limit the number o f students to six\, providing plenty of time for each student to revise he r work in class and to receive feedback from fellow students and the instr uctor.
